YSUN-Greece
About us

YSUN – Greece is an attempt of people between 18 and 30 years old, who share common values, which derive from the Charter of the United Nations. Our common interests for a better and more just world are mirrored in this effort, which we hope will be met with a great show of participation on behalf of both people between 18 and 30 years old and the Greek public opinion as a whole. All our activities will have as a primary aim to familiarize the Greek Youth with the importance of the United Nations and the network of international relations built up around it, the actions and decisions of which, have a much more direct impact on citizens' lives than we tend to assume.

united_nations_flag.jpgPromulgators of this effort are 31 students and graduates from some of the major universities of Greece, namely Panteion University of Athens, Aristoteleion Univerisity of Thessaloniki, University of Macedonia Thessaloniki, Higher Alexandreion Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki, and Kapodestrian National University of Athens.

The aims of the Society, as defined in its Constitution, are the following:
1) To promote ideals and values deriving from the UN Charter in the Greek Society,
2) To stir the interest of citizens for International Relations,
3) To organize informative and other campaigns relating to the United Nations and its sister organizations,
4) To promote cooperation of young people from United Nations Member States,
5) To inform the Greek youth about the United Nations and its activities in cooperation with the United Nations Regional Information Centres.

In achieving all the above, YSUN – Greece acts as a Non-Governmental Organization without any political or economic dependence whatsoever.

pix11_1.jpgYSUN – Greece, as provided for by Article 3 of its Constitution, resorts to the following means in order to fulfill its aims: 1) Speeches, lectures, seminars and conferences on issues concerning the aims of the Society as they were previously described, 2) Publication of information material or magazines, 3) Participation in, and coordination of activities of the above kinds with other Societies or Associations from other United Nations Member States or other countries in general and 4) Any action fit to the fulfillment of the aims of the Society, which is not contradictory to the Greek Public Order and the provisions of the Society's Constitution.

Aspired by our vision for a better future, our efforts will always be guided by our sentiments as citizens of a globalized world, conscious of both our rights and duties.
