The European International Model United Nations (TEIMUN) is the oldest student-level Model United Nations in Europe. TEIMUN is traditionally held in The Hague, the administrative capital of the Netherlands and legal capital of the world. Every summer the TEIMUN board of directors is proud to welcome 220 students from every corner of the world for a spectacular week. This year, TEIMUN will take place from the 15th to the 21st of July.
In addition to the North Atlantic Council, five UN councils will be simulated at TEIMUN: the Security Council, the General Assembly, the Human Rights Council, the International Court of Justice and the Economic and Social Council. In these councils students, representing a country other than their own, will tackle global problems and they must try to secure their country’s interests as best as they can.
TEIMUN is probably the best podium for students to test and improve their diplomatic skills. Nevertheless, this does not mean the conference is suited strictly for students with an interest in diplomacy. In every career people need cleverness in debating, public speaking abilities and proficiency in negotiating.
Apart from the serious aspects of the conference TEIMUN offers a broad range of social and cultural activities. We believe that, while at TEIMUN, it is important to integrate with students from different backgrounds, countries and cultures. Therefore, we will provide ample opportunities to get to know new people, e.g. at our international night, after session dinks and the beach party.
